Restoration

Metal is one of the strongest materials in nature. Therefore, in compliance with manufacturing technologies and proper care, products from it last a very long time. But despite this, there are cases when they begin to deteriorate. The most common causes of damage to forged products are rust and mechanical damage. If there is damage to metal structures, a restoration service will be available. Restoration of forged products is a set of measures to restore the product to its original (new) condition.

Stages of restoration of forged products:

  • Initial review. The forged product is inspected to assess its condition and the degree of damage. Only after a proper inspection can a professional choose the right methods of restoration and place of work. If the degree of damage is simple – the restoration can be carried out on site, without disassembly or transportation to the workshop.
  • Dismantle a damaged part or the whole product. If the product is severely damaged, it is carefully separated or removed completely and taken to a restoration forge.
  • Stripping. The procedure is very important because it depends on the service life of the product in the future. Therefore, it should be performed only by a qualified specialist. Such a specialist will select the necessary method of reading individually (mechanical or chemical). With the help of stripping, corrosion and old paint are removed. If small cracks and defects are visible on the product, grinding is additionally applied.
  • Recover lost or damaged items. If the individual elements of the product have gross damage, or these elements are completely absent, they are replaced. To do this, a sketch and layout are developed, after which the element is rebuilt and installed.
  • Priming and painting forgings. A soil mixture is applied to a well-cleaned surface of the metal structure. Its composition is selected in such a way as to protect the product from aggressive environments and prevent corrosion. After the soil dries, the product is painted and a decorative patina is applied.
  • Shipping and installation. After the paint and patina are completely dry, the product is considered completely restored. Our masters take away and mount it. This is the final stage of forging restoration.

Keep in mind: our specialists not only restore the forging we made earlier but also undertake restoration of forged products of another origin. Possibility, duration, and price of restoration can always be found out from the masters of our smithy.
